Regular Season Round 6: Maitland M. - Bankstown B. 86-78

There was an upset when higher ranked Bankstown Bruins (3-3) were defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Maitland Mustangs (2-4) 86-78 on Saturday. Maitland Mustangs made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized Croatian power forward Goran Veg (205) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Mitchell Rueter (198, college: Cent.Arkansas) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Jason Cadee (186-91) who recorded 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Svetomir Gavrilovic added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Maitland Mustangs moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Bankstown Bruins keep the fifth position with three games lost. Maitland Mustangs will face Hawks (#11) in the next round. Bankstown Bruins will play against Spiders (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
