Regular Season Round 55: Osaka Evessa - Oita H.Devils 121-71

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Osaka Evessa (32-16) outplayed at home 9th ranked Oita Heat Devils (15-33) 121-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Osaka Evessa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Oita Heat Devils' 40. Osaka Evessa forced 22 Oita Heat Devils turnovers and outrebounded them 46-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Oita Heat Devils' players. Oita Heat Devils were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward DeAngelo Casto (203-90, college: Washington St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Oita Heat Devils. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osaka Evessa maintains fifth place with 32-16 record. Loser Oita Heat Devils dropped to the tenth position with 33 games lost. Osaka Evessa will face again Oita Heat Devils (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
