Regular Season Round 26: Estudiantes L. - Grupo Inec Z. 76-87

Everything went according to plan in Lugo where second ranked Grupo Inec Z. (16-4) beat 7th ranked Estudiantes L. (9-11) 87-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Grupo Inec Z.. Estudiantes L. was better in fourth quarter 27-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grupo Inec Z. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Estudiantes L.'s 26 and had 21 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Estudiantes L. only scored five points from the stripe. Estudiantes L. was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Australian center James Hunter (208-91, college: S.Dakota) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and center Christopher Iza (206-95) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Grupo Inec Z. players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Milo Vukcevic (200-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Roberto Abuin (190-95) scored 9 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grupo Inec Z. have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with Agustinos-Eras. Loser Estudiantes L. keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Grupo Inec Z.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Zamora Vigren.
