Regular Season Round 26: Pielagos - Mondragon 83-71

Very predictable result in Renedo de Pielagos where second ranked Pielagos (17-5) defeated 10th ranked Mondragon (9-13) 83-71 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mondragon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard David Garcia (192-80) scored 20 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese center Abdoulaye Seck (205-92) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Pielagos players scored in double figures. Power forward Benat Barberena (204-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and guard Martxel Balanzategui (191-92) scored 11 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pielagos maintains second position in Group A-A with 17-5 record having just 10 victories less than leader San Fernando. Loser Mondragon keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. Pielagos will face Santurtzi (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mondragon will play against Easo (#5) and hope to win that game.
