An interesting game took place in Brussels where 6th ranked Kangoeroes (9-5) were upset on the court of ninth ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (7-7) 85-78 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-78. Basic-Fit Brussels dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kangoeroes' 34. They outrebounded Kangoeroes 41-22 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Julian Gamble (207-89, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Brandon Ubel (209-91, college: Nebraska) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. Basic-Fit Brussels' coach Serge Crevecoeur used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Terry Deroover (178-91) scored 22 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Basic-Fit Brussels maintains ninth position in League with 7-7 record. Loser Kangoeroes keep the sixth place with five games lost. Basic-Fit Brussels will face bottom-ranked Leuven Bears (#11) on the road in the next round.
