Regular Season Round 56: Kanazawa Samuraiz - Fukuoka Rizing 71-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Ishikawa where 7th ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (27-23) was defeated by eighth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (18-32) 80-71 on Sunday. Kanazawa Samuraiz trailed by 20 points after 3 quarters before a 24-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-80 at the end of the game. Fukuoka Rizing forced 19 Kanazawa Samuraiz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) who added 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) responded with 22 points and guard Yuji Yuji (181-88) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fukuoka Rizing maintains eighth position with 18-32 record, which they share with Yokohama BC. Loser Kanazawa Samuraiz keeps the seventh place with 23 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will face Bambitious Nara (#9) at home in the next round.
