Regular Season Round 23: Agua Prieta - Nogales 89-90

A very close game took place in Agua Prieta between Fuerza Guinda Nogales and Vaqueros. Tenth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (9-11) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Vaqueros (8-12). Fuerza Guinda Nogales managed to escape with a 1-point win 90-89 in the game for the seventh place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Fuerza Guinda Nogales made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game, while Vaqueros only scored eleven points from the stripe. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St.) helped adding 24 points and 11 rebounds. Fuerza Guinda Nogales' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds and forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) scored 29 points. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Fuerza Guinda Nogales moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Vaqueros keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Los Mochis and Obregon. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will meet at home higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaqueros will play against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo and will have a slim chance for a victory.
