Regular Season Round 23: Guasave - Culiacan 96-101

The game between third ranked Frayles de Guasave (12-8) and fifth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (12-8) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Frayles de Guasave was defeated by Caballeros de Culiacan in a tough game in Guasave 96-101. It was a great shooting night for Caballeros de Culiacan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Jordanian swingman Jimmy Baxter (196-80, college: S.Florida) who scored 20 points and 8 assists. American guard Gregory Howard (193-89, college: Walsh) chipped in 26 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Howard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Jordan Williams (198, college: N.Texas) added 25 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Frayles de Guasave's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Caballeros de Culiacan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guasave. Caballeros de Culiacan is looking forward to face Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#7) on the road in the next round. Frayles de Guasave will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and is hoping to win this game.
