Regular Season Round 27: Valencia II - Paterna 85-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Valencia-2's (15-10) home victory over 5th ranked Paterna (11-13) 85-81 on Thursday. Paterna was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 24-13 charge of Valencia-2, which allowed them to win the game. Valencia-2 outrebounded Paterna 46-32 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Paterna was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward David Guardia (200-90) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Swingman Luis Panos (192-93) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Juan Navarro (195-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Carlos Cerdan (190-97) added 23 points in the effort for Paterna. Four Paterna players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia-2 maintains fourth place in Group E Clas with 15-10 record. Loser Paterna keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Valencia-2 will face league's second-placed Myrtia in Murcia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Paterna will play at home against Almassera and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
