Regular Season Round 29: Toshiba BT - Chiba Jets 88-76

Everything went according to plan in Kanagawa where third ranked Toshiba Thunders (36-16) won against 8th ranked Chiba Jets (20-31) 88-76 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Chiba Jets was better in fourth quarter 29-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and international power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain third place with 36-16 record having six points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Chiba Jets lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 31 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face again Chiba Jets (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Chiba Jets will play against Tsukuba R. and hope to win that game.
