The game between third ranked Provence Basket (17-12) and fourth ranked Le Portel (18-11) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Provence Basket was crushed by Le Portel in Le Portel 77-45. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Provence Basket. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Provence Basket to just 3 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Provence Basket 39-25 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American Myles McKay (192-86, college: Wisc.-Whitewater) who scored 26 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. McKay is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Nigerian Derrick Obasohan (203-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) produced 10 points and American swingman Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle, agency: Stealth Sport) added 8 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Le Portel moved-up to second place, which they share with Evreux and Bourg. Provence Basket at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Le Portel is looking forward to face Boulazac Basket (#6) on the road in the next round. Provence Basket will play against JA Vichy and is hoping to win this game.
