Regular Season Round 33: Caen - Mulhouse 77-67

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Caen (18-15) defeated at home 15th ranked Mulhouse Basket (14-19) 77-67. It looked good early as Mulhouse Basket took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Caen had a 27-8 second period charge getting the lead and Mulhouse Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-77. Caen players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian-Montenegrin center Nemanja Calasan (204-85, college: Purdue) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Bill Clark (196-88, college: Duquesne, agency: HMS) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Mathieu Bigote (190-84) who recorded 22 points and 4 assists and swingman Parfait Njiba (198-89, agency: Octagon Europe) added 17 points respectively. Mulhouse Basket's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Caen moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Quimper. Mulhouse Basket at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. Caen's next round opponent will be UB Chartres (#9) on the road. Mulhouse Basket will play against Berck (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
