Regular Season Round 25: Hermosillo - Agua Prieta 95-81

CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (15-7) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Vaqueros (8-14) 95-81. It looked good early as Vaqueros took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rayos de Hermosillo had a 26-15 second period charge getting the lead and Vaqueros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-95. They outrebounded Vaqueros 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. American players dominated also this game. Swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Vaqueros' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rayos de Hermosillo maintains first place with 15-7 record, which they share with Guaymas. Vaqueros lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Obregon. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vaqueros will play against Trigueros de Ciudad Obregon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
