Regular Season Round 27: Gandia Basquet - Myrtia 69-73

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when leader Gandia Basquet (22-3) lost at home to second ranked Myrtia (17-7) 73-69 on Saturday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group E Clas. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a good game for forward Jorge Lledo (203-80) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Pepe Llorente (185-82) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Daniel Marti (203-89, college: Union, TN) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Carlos Gil (201-93, college: S.Mississippi) added 13 points in the effort for Gandia Basquet. Five Myrtia and four Gandia Basquet players scored in double figures. Gandia Basquet's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Myrtia maintains second place in Group E Clas with 17-7 record having just twenty two point less than leader San Fernando. Loser Gandia Basquet still keeps top position with three games lost. Myrtia will face Valencia-2 (#4) at home in the next round.
