There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked La Roda (9-15) edged on the road 3rd placed Real Madrid II (15-9) 61-60 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 14-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American guard Darin Mency (188-89, college: Merrimack, agency: DTMones) who saved his team from a defeat with 18 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four La Roda players scored in double figures. FYR Macedonian forward Dino Radoncic (202-99) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Brazilian center Felipe Dos Anjos (218-98) added 6 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Real Madrid II. Real Madrid II's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. La Roda moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Torrelodones. Loser Real Madrid II dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. La Roda will face Alcobendas (#12) at home in the next round. Real Madrid II will play against the league's second-placed Alcazar (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
