Second Stage Round 12: Arantia - Bascharage 106-93

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Bascharage (22-8) in Larochette on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Arantia (22-8) 106-93. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Arantia dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Bascharage's 40. They outrebounded Bascharage 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Arantia looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Bascharage's players. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Mike Jones (203-83, college: N.Texas) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Aaron Harrison (198-93, college: Lynn) chipped in a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Arantia players scored in double figures. Arantia's coach Mike Smith used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Marcus Neal (196-86, college: Delaware St.) who recorded 31 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) added 30 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Arantia used an opportunity after Bascharage lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Bascharage. Arantia is looking forward to face Heffingen (#4) on the road in the next round. Bascharage will play against the league's leader Residence and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
