Regular Season Round 31: Cholet - Rouen 87-90

There was a small surprise when seventeenth ranked SPO Rouen (6-25) edged on the road 15th ranked Cholet Basket (10-21) 90-87 on Saturday. Cholet Basket was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-20 charge of SPO Rouen, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game, while Cholet Basket only scored four points from the stripe. It was a great evening for Guerschon Yabusele (201-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four SPO Rouen players scored in double figures. At the losing side Italian-American forward Joe Trapani (203-88, college: Boston Coll.) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin) scored 26 points and 5 assists. SPO Rouen maintains seventeenth place with 6-25 record. Cholet Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 21 games lost. SPO Rouen will face higher ranked JSF Nanterre (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
