Regular Season Round 11: Sabios - Piratas 89-72

Date: April 25, 2016
Very expected game in Manizales where 8th ranked Piratas (1-10) were defeated by third ranked Sabios (6-5) 89-72 on Monday. The best player for the winners was Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) who scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center John Hernandez (207-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. American swingman Antonio Davis (196-82, college: Urbana) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard David Hernandez (172-96) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sabios maintains third place with 6-5 record having just three points less than leader Cimarrones, which they share with Halcones and Bucaros. Piratas lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Sabios will again meet at home bottom-ranked Piratas (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Piratas will have a break next round.
