Regular Season Round 12: Sabios - Piratas 72-68
Date: April 26, 2016
There was no surprise in Manizales where 8th ranked Piratas (1-11) were defeated by third ranked Sabios (7-5) 72-68 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sabios made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Eric Williams (198-85, college: Tarleton St.) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Antonio Davis (196-82, college: Urbana) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Arnold Fripp (201-93, college: Coppin St.) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sabios maintains third position with 7-5 record having just three points less than leader Academia, which they share with Bucaros. Piratas lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Sabios will meet Patriotas (#7) in the next round. Piratas will play against Condores and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
