Seventh ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (11-13) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (11-15) 93-91 in the game for the sixth place. Pioneros Los Mochis had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tijuana Zonkeys were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Gordon Ball (203-90, college: Texas St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) contributed with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tijuana Zonkeys. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pioneros Los Mochis moved-up to sixth place. Defending champion Tijuana Zonkeys dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against bottom-ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
