Regular Season Round 27: Mazatlan - Culiacan 90-86

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (14-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (17-9) 90-86 on Wednesday. Lobos UAD Mazatlan made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for power forward Kourtney Roberson (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) helped adding 23 points. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach Eric Weissling used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) with 21 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Four Lobos UAD Mazatlan and five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-9 record having just two point less than leader Hermosillo. Caballeros de Culiacan at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Guasave. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will meet Frayles de Guasave (#4) on the road in the next round. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round.
