There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Lightning (3-4) defeated 7th ranked Senators (3-5) in Bullcreek 82-76 on Friday. Lightning dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Senators' 26. Lightning forced 27 Senators turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Courtney Byrnes (-93) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Taylor Bestry answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Amber Land (188) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Senators. Four Senators players scored in double figures. Senators' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lightning moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Senators dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Lightning will face Magic (#10) in Mandurah in the next round. Senators will play on the road against Suns in Kalamunda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
