Regular Season Round 8: SW Slammers - Willetton T. 74-104

Date: April 29, 2016
Everything went according to plan in Bunbury where third ranked Tigers (6-3) outleveled 9th ranked Slammers (4-5) 104-74 on Friday. Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 38 and made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Slammers 61-39 including a 49-34 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tigers made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Damien Scott (190-92) who scored 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Charles Funches (203-88, college: Hampton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St.) produced 23 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Royal Crouch (193, college: Wayland Baptist) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Tigers went down to fifth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Slammers keep the ninth place with five games lost. Tigers will face Hawks (#8) in Floreat in the next round. Slammers will play on the road against the league's second-placed Buccaneers in Wonthella and hope to win that game.
