Regular Season Round 34: SAP Vaucluse - Maurienne 83-78

An interesting game took place in Sorgues where higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (19-15) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked SAP Vaucluse (17-17) 83-78 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Aix-Maurienne won third quarter 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SAP Vaucluse made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Point guard Antoine Liorel (181-89) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Algerian Karim Atamna (196-80) produced 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Steffon Bradford (198-77, college: Nebraska) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five SAP Vaucluse and four Aix-Maurienne players scored in double figures. SAP Vaucluse moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Vitre and Chartres. Loser Aix-Maurienne keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Caen.
