Regular Season Round 7: Rockingham CF - Kalamunda E.S. 84-51

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Suns (3-4) were outleveled by third ranked Flames (7-1) in Rockingham 84-51 on Friday. Flames held Suns to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.5 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Flames forced 27 Suns turnovers. It was a very good performance for American swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Center Jacinta Bourne (199-91) contributed with 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94, agency: LBM Management) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and Rebecca Motroni added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Suns. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames keep a position of League leader. Loser Suns dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Flames will face Redbacks (#5) in Northbridge in the next round. Suns will play at home against Senators and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
