Regular Season Round 30: Tochigi Brex - Aishin SH 51-75

Date: April 30, 2016
There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Aishin Sea Horses (33-18) outplayed on the road second-best Tochigi Brex (41-10) 75-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Tochigi Brex was better in fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tochigi Brex to just 4 points in first quarter. It was a good game for American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) replied with 0 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import center Andrew Naymick (209-85, agency: Warren Sports International) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Tochigi Brex. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 33-18 record. Loser Tochigi Brex keeps the second place with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play at home against Hokkaido L. (#6) and hope to win that game.
