Regular Season Round 7: Joondalup W. - SW Slammers 105-67

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Wanneroo (5-1) rolled over bottom-ranked Slammers (0-8) in Joondalup 105-67 on Saturday. Wanneroo dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 34 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Wanneroo forced 25 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 58-34 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Slammers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Wanneroo made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for forward Klara Wischer (185-91, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Amy Kidner (183, college: N.Colorado) contributed with 31 points and 6 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Forward Courtney Bayliss (183-93, college: Our Lady Lake) answered with 32 points and 7 rebounds and R Thompson added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for Slammers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wanneroo maintains fourth place in League with 5-1 record. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
