Undefeated Pirates (0-1) recorded its first loss in Runcorn on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by leader Mountaineers (1-0) 77-72. Mountaineers made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Pirates turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Spanish forward Maria Royo (178-86) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Hannah Lennan accounted for 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. German guard Sidney Parsons (168-87, college: Bridgeport) came up with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals and Telesia Manumaleuga added 24 points respectively for Pirates in the defeat. Mountaineers left bottom position moving up to fifth place in League. Loser Pirates still closes the standings with one game lost. Mountaineers will meet at home Flames (#6) in the next round. Pirates will play against the league's leader Power (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory.
