Rather expected game in Floreat where 7th ranked Hawks (5-5) were defeated by fifth ranked Buccaneers (7-3) 106-90 on Saturday. Buccaneers dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 40. The best player for the winners was power forward Matthew Wundenberg (200-83) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Ben Purser (201-90, college: Augusta) produced 18 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hawks' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Buccaneers moved-up to second place in League. Loser Hawks dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Buccaneers will face Slammers (#9) in Bunbury in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hawks will play on the road against Tigers in Willetton and hope to win that game.
