Not a big story in a game in Kalgoorlie where 12th ranked Magic (2-7) was defeated by eighth ranked Giants (6-4) 105-100 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jacob Holmen (202-91, college: N.Texas) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import swingman Kenny Manigault (196-91, college: Pikeville) chipped in 28 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Power forward Benjamin Smith (204-88, college: Concordia Irvine) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American swingman Trevor Setty (203-89, college: Pikeville) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Magic players scored in double figures. Giants moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Magic dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Giants will face higher ranked Wanneroo (#3) in Joondalup in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Magic will play on the road against Flames (#4) in Rockingham and hope to win that game.
