Regular Season Round 28: Sagunto - Cartagena 74-95
Date: April 30, 2016
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Sagunto (4-19) was outscored by fifth ranked Cartagena (5-20) in Gilet 95-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cartagena. Sagunto was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cartagena shot 28 for 46 from the free-throw line, while Sagunto only scored eleven points from the stripe. Sagunto was plagued by 37 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Chema Albaladejo (191-90) who helped to win the game recording 41 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Point guard Pablo Carselle (183-93) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Devin Kastrup (203-92, college: Western St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) added 15 points in the effort for Sagunto. Sagunto's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cartagena moved-up to fourth place in Group E Desc. Newly promoted Sagunto dropped to the fifth position with 19 games lost. Cartagena will have a break next round. Sagunto will play on the road against the league's second-placed L`Alfas (#2) in Alfas Del Pi and hope to win that game.
