Rather expected game in Ulverstone where 7th ranked Frankston Blues (1-6) were defeated by fifth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (4-2) 85-71 on Saturday. NW Tasmania Thunder dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Frankston Blues' 32. They outrebounded Frankston Blues 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Garrett Jackson (201-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Bradley Simpson (198-90, college: Adelphi) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American swingman Bennie Lewis (203-87, college: Benedict, agency: Warren Sports International) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Frankston Blues players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. NW Tasmania Thunder moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Frankston Blues keep the seventh position with six games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will face higher ranked Dandenong Rangers (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Frankston Blues will play against Kilsyth Cobras (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
