Second Stage Round 6: Oostende - Spirou 90-65

An interesting game for Oostende (21-5) which hosted in Oostende second-best Spirou Charleroi (17-10). First ranked Oostende had an easy win 90-65. The game was mostly controlled by Oostende. Spirou Charleroi managed to win second period 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Spirou Charleroi to just 5 points in third quarter. Oostende shot 62.2 percent from the field. They also forced 19 Spirou Charleroi turnovers and had a 31-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Oostende especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. 32 personal fouls committed by Spirou Charleroi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for international guard Quentin Serron (190-90) who led his team to a victory with 21 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Serbian guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Loic Schwartz (197-92) replied with 8 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Billy Baron (188-90, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 4 steals in the effort for Spirou Charleroi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position in League with 21-5 record. Spirou Charleroi at the other side keeps the second place with ten games lost. Oostende are looking forward to face Antwerp Giants (#5) on the road in the next round. Spirou Charleroi will have a break next round.
