Regular Season Round 8: Eltham W. - Werribee D. 100-82

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Devils (2-6) were defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Eltham Wildcats (1-6) 100-82 on Saturday. Eltham Wildcats dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Devils' 50. The best player for the winners was Benjamin Waldren who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Simon Grant (195-91) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Eltham Wildcats' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Fred Hunter (196-89, college: Nicholls St., agency: SDJ Sports) added 16 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Eltham Wildcats and four Devils players scored in double figures. Eltham Wildcats left bottom position moving up to ninth place in League. Loser Devils keep the eighth position with six games lost. Eltham Wildcats will face higher ranked Ringwood Hawks (#6) in Heathmont in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
