No shocking result in a game in Cheltenham where third ranked Brisbane Spartans (5-3) smashed 6th ranked Sabres (3-4) 114-71 on Saturday. Brisbane Spartans shot 60.3 percent from the field and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Brisbane Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) who scored 33 points (!!!). Swingman William McDowell-White (193-98) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Ari Stewart (200-90, college: USC) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Nathan Crosswell (190-79) added 10 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brisbane Spartans keep a position of League leader. Loser Sabres keep the sixth place with four games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Mount Gambier Pioneers (#3) in Mt Gambier in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sabres will play against BA CoE and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
