Regular Season Round 33: Strasbourg - Chalons-Reims 92-80

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Chalons-Reims (14-19) lost on the road to second ranked Strasbourg IG (24-9) 92-80. It looked good early as Chalons-Reims took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Strasbourg IG took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Chalons-Reims' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Rodrigue Beaubois (185-88, agency: Comsport) chipped in 18 points. Strasbourg IG's coach Vincent Collet allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Garry Florimont (203-87) who recorded 22 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Richard McConnell (183-89, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Priority Sports) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Strasbourg IG. They maintain second place with 24-9 record having just two points less than leader Monaco. Chalons-Reims at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Strasbourg IG's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked STB Le Havre (#18) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Chalons-Reims will play against Limoges CSP Elite (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
