Rather expected game in Belconnen where 6th ranked Canberra Gunners (3-4) were rolled over by third ranked Bendigo Braves (6-1) 97-59 on Saturday. Bendigo Braves outrebounded Canberra Gunners 42-27 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Canberra Gunners were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) who scored 32 points and 4 assists. The other American import forward Damian Johnson (201-87, college: Minnesota, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Four Bendigo Braves players scored in double figures. Guard Daniel Joyce (194-87) produced 19 points and guard Indiana Faithfull (193-91, college: W.Liberty St.) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bendigo Braves keep a position of League leader. Loser Canberra Gunners dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Bendigo Braves will face Tigers (#8) in Melbourne in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Canberra Gunners will play at home against Spectres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
