Regular Season Round 7: Hume City B. - Diamond VE 89-65

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourth ranked Hume City Broncos (6-1) crushed 3rd placed Diamond Valley Eagles (6-3) in Tullamarine 89-65 on Sunday. Hume City Broncos dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Valley Eagles' 34. Hume City Broncos had a 38-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Colleen Planeta (188-88, college: Point Loma) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Nicole Zammit contributed with 9 points and 6 assists for the winners. Hume City Broncos' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Courtenay Wragg (-90) answered with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Mikayla Pirini (169-96) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Diamond Valley Eagles. Hume City Broncos moved-up to second place in League. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Hume City Broncos will face Cougars (#7) in McKinnon in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against the league's leader Sharks and hope to win that game.
