Very expected game when 8th ranked Mavericks (1-7) were smashed by second ranked Rockets (6-2) in Mt. Barker 79-57 on Sunday. Rockets outrebounded Mavericks 49-38 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Opal Mader who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Jo Hill (182-73) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Rockets players scored in double figures. Shayde Quintrell answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Tamara Weiss added 13 points in the effort for Mavericks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rockets maintains second place in League with 6-2 record behind leader Rockingham CF. Loser Mavericks keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Rockets will face Sabres (#5) in Pasadena in the next round. Mavericks will play on the road against Panthers in Adelaide and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
