Regular Season Round 7: Whittlesea - Melbourne T. 59-66

Date: May 1, 2016
Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Whittlesea (0-9) lost to tenth ranked Tigers (2-5) in Mill Park 59-66 on Sunday. Strangely Whittlesea outrebounded Tigers 49-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for Elisabeth Kett who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 assists. Ashlea Stainer contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. American forward Trudy Armstead (185-91, college: Northwestern St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Ellie McLean added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Whittlesea. Tigers moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Whittlesea still closes the standings with nine games lost. Tigers will face Wildcats (#10) in Eltham in the next round. Whittlesea will play against the league's leader Sharks having rather not much hope for a victory.
