The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Armani Milano (22-8) in Sassari on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by eighth ranked Banco di Srd (16-14) 83-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Armani Milano. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Armani Milano won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banco di Srd made 24-of-25 free shots (96.0 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Armani Milano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) scored 24 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Joe Alexander (203-86, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Croatian swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85) with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier, agency: Beo Basket) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Giorgo Tesi PT and Umana VE. Armani Milano at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost.
