Regular Season Round 30: Guaymas - Culiacan 63-100

The most important game in the last round took place in Guaymas between third ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (16-11) and fourth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (15-10) on Friday night. Ostioneros de Guaymas were crushed by Caballeros de Culiacan at home 100-63. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-63. Caballeros de Culiacan shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) who scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American-Jordanian swingman Jimmy Baxter (196-80, college: S.Florida) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Ryan Holmes (198-82, college: Philander Smith) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and Oscar Giron added 15 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caballeros de Culiacan maintains fourth position with 15-10 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 11 games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play at home against the league's second-placed Lobos UAD Mazatlan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
