An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mazatlan. First ranked Rayos de Hermosillo faced second-best Lobos UAD Mazatlan. Guests from Hermosillo (20-7) defeated host Lobos UAD Mazatlan (19-10) 106-88. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Lobos UAD Mazatlan. The game was mostly controlled by Rayos de Hermosillo. Lobos UAD Mazatlan was better in third quarter 30-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lobos UAD Mazatlan 35-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Rayos de Hermosillo shot the lights out from three nailing 20 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. It was a good game for the former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) replied with 24 points and 4 assists and Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lobos UAD Mazatlan. Five Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-7 record. Lobos UAD Mazatlan at the other side keeps the second place with ten games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play on the road against Ostioneros de Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
