Regular Season Round 15: Piratas - Halcones 81-83

Eighth-ranked Piratas (1-14) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Halcones (7-8) in Bogota on Friday. The visitors from Cucuta managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-18. But Piratas won second period 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Piratas 52-40 including 17 on the offensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was forward R.J. McGhee (198, college: Oklahoma City, agency: CGL Sports) who scored 29 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Sean Harris (201, college: Utah St.) chipped in 9 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Arnold Fripp (201-93, college: Coppin St.) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Antonio Davis (196-82, college: Urbana) added 14 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Five Piratas players scored in double figures. Halcones moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Condores. Piratas lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Halcones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piratas will play again against Halcones (#5) and hope to win that game.
