Regular Season Round 29: Burgos - Clavijo 95-104

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Burgos (6-17) lost at home to sixth ranked Clavijo (14-10) 104-95 on Saturday. Burgos trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 28-26 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 95-104 at the end of the game. Burgos was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Brais Gago (180-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!). Swedish power forward Simon Birgander (209-97, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Five Clavijo players scored in double figures. Center Txomin Lopez (204-78) answered with 32 points and 9 rebounds and forward Alvaro Gomez (192-84) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Burgos. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Clavijo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain sixth place in Group A-A with 14-10 record. Burgos lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 17 games lost.
