Second Stage Round 14: BC Mess - Contern 87-73
Date: May 7, 2016
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mondercange. Third ranked BC Mess faced second-ranked Contern. Host BC Mess (18-14) defeated guests from Luxembourg (12-20) 87-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Contern. The game was mostly controlled by BC Mess. Contern was better in fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Elijah Bonsignore (198, college: S.New Hampshire) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Gilles Fassotte (176-91) supported him with 29 points. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Ravern Johnson (200-88, college: Mississippi St., agency: HMS) did not help to save the game for Contern. International point guard Raul Birenbaum (182-89) added 21 points for the guests. Contern's coach Helge Patzak rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted BC Mess maintains third position with 18-14 record having just three point less than leader Bascharage. Contern at the other side keeps the second place with 20 games lost.
