Regular Season Round 33: Strasbourg - Limoges 81-67

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Strasbourg IG (24-9) beat at home 10th ranked Limoges CSP Elite (17-16) 81-67. It looked good early as Limoges CSP Elite took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Strasbourg IG had a 24-11 second period charge getting the lead and Limoges CSP Elite was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-81. Strasbourg IG dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Limoges CSP Elite's 28. Strasbourg IG players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Limoges CSP Elite helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Matt Howard (203-89, college: Butler) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Louis Campbell (190-79, college: Buffalo) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Five Strasbourg IG players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: Rhode Island) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Leo Westermann (196-92, agency: Beo Basket) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Strasbourg IG. They maintain second place with 24-9 record having just two points less than leader Monaco. Defending champion Limoges CSP Elite keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Strasbourg IG's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked STB Le Havre (#18) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Limoges CSP Elite will play against Chalons-Reims (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
