Regular Season Round 16: Piratas - Halcones 120-117

Date: May 7, 2016
The most exciting game of round 16 in the Liga DirecTV took place in Bogota. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Halcones (7-9) to eighth ranked Piratas (2-14) 120-117 on Saturday evening. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Halcones' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Piratas made 7 blocks. 28 personal fouls committed by Halcones helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Antonio Davis (196-82, college: Urbana) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) chipped in 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward R.J. McGhee (198, college: Oklahoma City, agency: CGL Sports) produced 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and naturalized Venezuelan point guard Jorge Leon (188-79) added 23 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Piratas and five Halcones players scored in double figures. Piratas maintains eighth position with 2-14 record. Halcones at the other side dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. Piratas are looking forward to face league's second-placed Cimarrones in Quibdo-Choco in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Halcones will play at home against Patriotas (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
