Oberwart held off Vienna in the opener. Vienna trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 19-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 57-61 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Vienna 34-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Chris Ferguson (206-89, college: Mid-Continent, agency: HMS) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Redwell Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian point guard Bogic Vujosevic (189-92, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 19 points and 4 steals.
