Regular Season Round 32: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel Eilat 71-58

Date: May 8, 2016
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Maccabi Haifa (19-13) defeated at home 5th ranked Hapoel Eilat (16-16) 71-58. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Haifa. Hapoel Eilat was better in third quarter 14-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa forced 21 Hapoel Eilat turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) who scored that evening 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) supported him with 12 points and 5 steals. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds by Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Eilat. International Elishay Kadir (202-87) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa maintains third position with 19-13 record having seven points less than leader Hapoel J-M. Hapoel Eilat lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 16 games lost. Maccabi Haifa's next round opponent will be Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#8) on the road where they are favorite. Hapoel Eilat will play against Bnei Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
